SPS-Wireless if for guests only. It should not be used by staff or students.

Macintosh Computers

Checking for a Connection

If a student computer cannot get onto the internet, the first thing to check is the Status by opening the Network Preferences...

If you see that the status is connected, you will want to verify that it has an IP address that starts with 157...

If it says "Self-Assigned" and starts with 169... then there is a problem. See below for a couple of easy things that you can try.

Not Connected? Try These Steps

Most Computers

In all cases, the first step is to Log Out of the account. The computer will reconnect to the wireless when it re-logs in.

If this does not solve your problem, try restarting it.

If this doesn't work, please fill out a Web HelpDesk Ticket.

Cart Computers

Verify that the cart/access point have been plugged in to power and internet.

If SPS-Cart doesn't show up under the list of wireless networks, please fill out a Web HelpDesk Ticket indicating that it is not listed.

Older iBooks

If the battery has died, the iBook will reset its Date/Time settings prior to the current date.

Solution: Once you have verified that the Date/Time is incorrect, please fill out a Web HelpDesk Ticket indicating that this has happened.
