Network Quality

When you run into network problems with your device, we have some diagnostics options you can use to help Technology Services troubleshoot. Wi-Fi issues often come and go, so it's important to get a snapshot of the problem when it's happening.

Macs

Staff and students now have access to the Network Quality Test tool within the SPS Self Service application on Mac devices.

If you are having network issues, you can run this tool and Technology Services staff can take a look at the results and identify potential network issues with that device. Before you run this tool, make sure you are connected to the Internet and preferably, have Wi-Fi turned on and connected to an SPS Wi-Fi network.

After you run this tool, please be patient and keep the window open. It may take up to 5 minutes for all the tests to run, as NQT runs network tests over time. You will not see anything on your end but the test results will be stored for review.

If you want a response from your tech, please also file a help desk ticket and mention you ran a Network Quality test on the affected Mac.

ChromeOS

ChromeOS users can do one of two things:

2. Download and run Google's Chrome Connectivity Diagnostic app. This will perform some additional network tests. There's no easy way to dump the results from this app, but look for failed tests and copy/paste any logs and put them in a help desk ticket.
