Fixing Your Wi-Fi Settings on a Non-District  Apple iPhone or iPad

Introduction

Occasionally, the SPS_Secure Wi-Fi settings on your Apple iPhone or iPad device may get messed up.

Additionally, we have previously discovered a bug with Apple iOS where connection to a Wi-Fi network quietly fails when a certificate expires and is changed. Formerly, you were asked if you wanted to trust the new certificate. This seems to no longer be the case. The following procedure should fix most cases.

Note: This article only applies to non-district iPhones and iPads. District iPhones and iPads should be automatically configured via deployed configurations.

Steps

1. Open the Settings app on your device.

2. Select Wi-Fi.

3. Find the SPS_Secure entry and tap the information icon (a lowercase i in a circle).

4. Tap Forget This Network and confirm.

5. Under Choose A Network, select SPS_Secure and enter your district username (eg. "jane.doe") and password.

6. If prompted about a certificate, tap the Trust button.

7. If login was successful, SPS_Secure should now have a checkmark to the left of it.

8. Tap the information button (circled "I") and verify that you have an IP address beginning with "157.246". If so, you should be ready to go!
