How to Project an iPad

Overview

If you have an iPad that you would like to project in your classroom, you will need a copy of the AirServer app for your computer. This will allow any iPad in your classroom to be projected wirelessly. You must connect your computer and iPad to the SPS_Secure wifi network for this to work.

A Word About Personal Devices — Be Student Appropriate

If you are going to project from a personal iPhone or iPad, please put it into "Do Not Disturb mode" before using in class. This will prevent personal notifications (e.g., text message) from appearing on your screen.  Click here for directions.

AirServer Requests

You can request a license for AirServer copy by filling out this short form...click here to submit your request. (Why do I have to fill out this form? It's so we can track licenses.)

Replacement computer?

If you have received a replacement computer, you will need to fill out this form so that you can get your airserver license transferred.

Downloading Software

When you download the software, please be sure to click KEEP when prompted. It is safe to download the software. You will see something similar to the image below.

The video provides a walkthrough of the settings and how to use Airserver to project your iPad. At the end there is a quick tip for making iPad recordings.

Before you Start

When you are at school, the iPad will need to be connected to the SPS_Secure wifi network. This is set up to log in as wlanstudent.

If you are not able to sign in for any reason at all, restart the iPad and try again.

Adjust General Preferences & Enter Computer Name/Password

As you can see in the image to the right, the computer name is not very descriptive and there is no password.

All iPad users will see a list of computer names they can mirror to — some of which will not be in your building.

To alleviate confusion and to secure your computer from displaying an iPad outside of  your classroom, please complete steps A, B, and C below.
