Tech Services has set up an easy way to add printers in the Self Service app installed on your Mac computer. It is recommended that you try use Self Service to install your printer first. If your printer is not located in Self service or you have issues, continue below.

Click here for directions on using Self Service to add a printer.

If you have any questions, or the printer doesn't install correctly, please contact your building Ed Tech Leader.

Below is the manual method of adding a printer.

Installing Printers via SPS Self Service

2. Select the appropriate "Site_(school acronym)_Printers" from the left hand pane.

3. Click the Install button below the printer you'd like to add to your computer. If you have already installed the printer, you're welcome to Reinstall the printer.

Adding a Printer not listed in SPS Self Service

1. Open System Settings on your computer.

2. In System Settings, open the Printers & Scanners option at the bottom of the left hand pane.

3. Click the "Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax..." button

4. Select the IP tab, which looks like a globe. Click the Protocol drop down and select Line Printer Daemon - LPD.

5. In the Address field (1), type the name as printed on the yellow sticker (ex: net-mfd-shop-01).

6. In the Use field (2), the printer information should populate on its own. Double check that the Name field matches the yellow sticker on the printer. Next, select the Add button. If the Use field (2) shows Generic PostScript Printer, the printer may not work as well as it should, or may not work at all. If you see Generic PostScript Printer and cannot print, contact Tech Services for assistance.

7. After selecting Add, a configuration window will pop up. Most of the time, the default settings will be fine. If there are any special features of the printer that you want, you can select them here. Select OK  to finish adding the printer.

8. Optional: If you'd like to select a Default Printer, select Printers & Scanners from the left hand pane, then click on the dropdown for Default Printer. Select the printer of your choice and all future print jobs will use that printer. This can be changed at any time if you need to update your default printer.

That's it! This process can be used on any district issued Mac computer.
