Managing & Updating Labs
Lab Care & Maintenance
All staff who use labs on a daily basis (e.g., testing, library) need to:
Verify that the software they need is installed on the computers;
Submit a HelpDesk Ticket or use Self Service to install software.
Submit tickets for
Devices that are not functioning properly.
Computer cleaning supplies
Address/prevent possible safety/security hazards related to cord management.
Computer Lab Updates/Refresh
Submit a Help Desk Ticket to requesting updates for your lab. Once scheduled, you will need to turn on the computers to complete the updates. This will take some time, so please keep this in mind when scheduling. You will want to make sure that you have enough time for the updates to run prior to student use.
Chromebook Support
In computer labs, occasionally, you will find that multiple student accounts accumulate on the device. You may request that ALL student accounts be removed for a computer by Tech Services by submitting a Web HelpDesk ticket.
Mac/Win computer System Maintenance
Need a “Lab Refresh?” You can submit a ticket for the end of term to reset dock, downloads, desktop, startup/shutdown times. Be sure to indicate the day you want this to happen so that it doesn't happen when students are using the computers. Note: Lab Computers will turn off at 6pm and on at 7am unless otherwise requested.
Need system updates? These should happen automatically, but you can always submit a ticket to update the operating systems of your devices.
