School Tech Plans
Overview
Leveled technology plans provide a year long action plan for our schools. The building administrator and Ed Tech Leader work in tandem with the site-based Technology Team to review the plan each spring and to formulate a training plan for the following school year. Additionally, each school is asked to customize their specific plan by addressing staff/student goals for their specific needs.
The plan should include goals and strategies that support the school vision. Your plan should basically address the following:
What you want students and staff to be able to do.
This may include changes in how students use technology, implementation of student projects, and basic student technology competencies. The plan should address:
How this will be accomplished.
Necessary staff training.
Desired student outcomes and indicators of success.
Implementation timeline.
As with all plans, it is important that your school’s future direction take into account the current environment, and that growth and expansion are outlined in a way that each component is realistic and that their is adequate professional development to support staff.
Building Leadership
Building administrators will need to help their staff develop a vision and cultivate teacher leaders.
Strategies may include:
Funding for site visits, conferences, and/or in-building observations;
A common understanding of technology integration and the SAMR model;
Reading and discussing articles that highlight technology integration (e.g., Technology Integration for the New 21st Century Learner);
Support for teachers to apply what they learn and follow-up observations to assure implementation;
A structure for your staff to mentor/coach/teach one another; and
On-going professional development for staff.
