Student Projects

Google Maps & MyMaps

Students can use the tools to create stories about an event or place and then their peers can read/see what they did.

The lessons are well paced. It is also possible to use some of the videos within our instruction with students.

Google Earth

Using Google Earth Voyager to view time-lapse map imagery. This would be particularly useful in highlighting impacts of climate change.

Blogger and Global Collaboration

I can see using Blogging as a schoolwide way to bring students together through different interests (for example, our school garden). It would be a great way to collaborate with other staff members and engage students in all K-5, as well as community.

Using student blogs at the HS level as a tool for establishing a relevant digital footprint that has universal use as they age into adulthood and expand their professional experience.

Strategies

Creating a HyFlex Classroom

Giving students choices will up the engagement factor

Classroom Management  in the Digital Classroom

Great ideas for introducing new material/tasks on technology

Explicit routines for using the Chromebook - Shark ‘em! poster

Create a daily visual activator to set students up for independent success

YouTube in the Classroom

Create a playlist of ‘like’ videos to share when teaching a unit

Tech Skills

Google Drive

I made a workspace with a planning document and several standard resources so I can create units without needing to search for the documents I would need to do the work.

I no longer find my Google Drive so overwhelming. I will be able to color code to make it more user friendly for me
