Term Weighting allows you to combine two different quarter (terms) grades into a final semester grade.
Do not use term weighting if you are using a cumulative grading approach to semester grades where you keep a running total of the grades throughout the semester.
Please call x3430 if you are unsure about your setup.
Quarter 1: 42.5%
Quarter 2: 42.5%
Final Exam: 15%
Another example:
Quarter 1: 30%
Quarter 2: 60%
Final Exam: 10%
Another example:
Quarter 1: 50%
Quarter 2: 50%
Final Exam: 10%
Directions: To calculate a semester grade that is some combination of Q1, Q2, and a final exam, you can assign weights to Q1 and Q2 as follows:
1. Select Report Card / Term Weighting.
2. To weight the grades, ONLY check the Semester 1 Final weighting to get the submenu — from there you can enter your weights (see image below). Click the image to enlarge it.
In StudentVUE, students will be able to look at three grades in semester classes as follows:
Semester 1 Quarter 1
Semester 1 Quarter 2 — which when they click on this, they will see Semester 1 Quarter 2, Semester 1 Exam (which may/may not be applicable for students), and the Semester 1 Final.
The semester grade will show up for your students, and will change, when you make adjustments to your Term Weighting, as outlined above.
