The excused comment code, "ex," indicates that a grade has been excluded from the grade.
Shows up in your grade book as a little red "e."
Does NOT show up in ParentVUE/StudentVUE.
The ex code may be particularly helpful when you have an incoming student partway into the year and do not want the student/parent to see all of the prior assignments.
NEVER use a custom excused comment type.
If you currently have a comment of "ex" in your grade book, be sure to delete it so that there is no confusion to counselors, administrators, other teachers, parents and/or students.
Ex — this is a default comment code that will not be displayed in the Grade Book Comments screen. See above for details.
Late — Teachers can decide if they want to apply a penalty. If so, edit the Late comment and enter the penalty percentage.
Absent — NEW: Attendance data is automatically displayed on due dates in the Grade Book.
If you want a grade to show up as a "0" because the student was absent, simply use the "ab" comment code.
When the student completes the assignment, and you enter a score, the comment will be deleted. This will prevent it from being counted as a missing assignment.
Missing — When the incomplete comment "/" is entered, the assignment will be counted as missing and a grade of "0" will be assigned. Once you enter a score, the comment will be removed.
Incomplete — When the incomplete comment "i" is entered, the assignment will be counted as missing and a grade of "0" will be assigned. Once you enter a score, the comment will be removed.
