Статтю присвячено виокремленню, ідеографічному опису, розкриттю лінгводидактичного значення численних лексичних запозичень грецького походження в сучасних польській та українській мовах. Виокремлено та обраховано лексичні запозичення з грецької мови зі спільною для польської / української мов семантикою; прокоментовано етимологію цих грецизмів; описано домінантні лексико-семантичні групи лексичних запозичень з грецької мови; аргументовано доцільність їх використання у процесі викладання польської мови як іноземної.

GRECISMS IN UKRAINIAN AND POLISH: IDEOGRAPHIC AND LINGUODIDACTIC ASPECTS

Abstract

Background: Greek had a huge impact on the development of Slavic languages. Many terms and internationalisms are borrowed from this language. The large number of scientific terms borrowed from Greek is the result of the intensive development of science in many fields of knowledge. The article is devoted to the identification, ideographic description, and disclosure of the linguistic didactic significance of numerous lexical borrowings of Greek origin in modern Polish and Ukrainian languages.

Purpose: Greek borrowing words are an integral part of both Polish and Ukrainian world views. The source represents 87 Greekisms (0.5% of the total vocabulary), of which the most numerous group is represented by «scientific terms» (46 lexemes), including the most numerous literary and general scientific terminology, "Medicine" (15) and "Human" (10). The borrowed vocabulary has been modified only in a small-scale part.

So, there is a significant group of common vocabulary in both languages with a source in Greek. Greek borrowing words in Polish and Ukrainian suggests the expediency of using the phenomenon of positive transfer in foreign language interference. The similar form helps to understand the meaning, strengthens the feeling of success, confidence among new vocabulary, and motivates further learning. Borrowing words is excellent material for the development of communicative competence.

Results: The purpose of the analysis is to determine the part, thematic classification and meaning of borrowing words of foreign origin.

Discussion: The prospect of the research is to study the etymology of foreign language borrowings, their morphological and phonetic adaptation in each language, and composites with Greek morphemes.
