Types of interlingual correlations of rational idioms (based on the material in the ukrainian, english and german languages)

TYPES OF INTERLINGUAL CORRELATIONS OF RATIONAL IDIOMS (BASED ON THE MATERIAL IN THE UKRAINIAN, ENGLISH AND GERMAN LANGUAGES)

Abstract

Background: The study of different semantic classes is becoming more and more popular among Ukrainian and foreign researchers who make an attempt to investigate lexical, morphological, syntactical or phonetic characteristics for special vocabulary to denote colors, tastes, feelings and even irrational activity in related and unrelated languages. Therefore the issue of rational vocabulary research seems to be presented as up-to-date one in order to outline its special features to function, in particular, for rational idioms.

Purpose: The purpose of the study is to outline types of interlingual correlations of rational phraseological units in the Ukrainian, English and German languages. 

Results: The author singles out a semantic class of rational vocabulary as well as rational idioms that are analyzed in a comparative aspect according to such parameters as significant and denotative meaning, subjective and evaluative connotation, functional and stylistic connotation, emotional and expressive connotation, structural and grammatical organization and component composition. As a result, the study presents full equivalents, partial equivalents, interlingual analogues and non-equivalent units for rational idioms in the Ukrainian, English and German languages.

 Discussion: The study concerns with different types of interlingual correlations rational idioms may obtain in the Ukrainian, English and German languages. The prospects of the paper deal with more detailed comparative analysis of rational vocabulary in mentioned languages.
