THEORY OF CASE GRAMMAR IN ENGLISH AND UKRAINIAN

Presentation of:

Путіліна Оксана. Відмінкова граматика : об’єктні відмінки в сучасних англійській та українській мовах : Монографія [Текст] / Оксана Путіліна. – Київ – Вінниця, 2015. – 311 с.

This work is an attempt of universal grammar, performed on two unkindred languages, including English and Ukrainian, considering methods of case grammar, that leaves a space for various experiments, including those that are characteristic for linguistic of universals with material of even different structure languages, generative grammar with its interpretation of principles of creation and the functioning the components of deep and surface levels to organize formally simple and complex sentences in different types languages, cognitive linguistics, enabling comprehensive treatment of components of the semantic structure sentence in a light of national-linguistic specificities of each of the studied languages, and functional grammar, offering no opinion on any given linguistic fact, but their set, defined with the principles of interaction and interdependence of elements, their functioning in a speech.

Because the scope of the study is limited in two languages (English and Ukrainian), it is quiteclear is primarily a dominant comparative typological trend, in which the object category was studied, not a self-universal direction, and for its maximum adequacy results of applying it is desirable to attract more languages. Therefore, the author carried out comparative typological study of the elements of a universal approach primarily, as comparable method associated with issues of language typology and universals resulting from its use, while typological method provides a comparative study of structural and functional features of languages regardless of their genetic nature. The essence of the comparative method, used in the monograph, is consistent and systematic comparison of linguistic phenomena in the studied languages.

First of all, it has to be traced in the case when it comes to features of these phenomena on the background of a national language, including the objective case manifestations in English and Ukrainian with regular formal comparison of object manifestations intended to submit a comprehensive analysis of the studied units and to emphasize specificity of object semantics representation in both languages.

On the other hand, the goal is to establish a common typological features of semantic object for languages with different structures, primarily English and Ukrainian, regardless of their genetic proximity that demonstrates application of the typological method and it has direct access to further studies within linguistic of universals.

Writing the labor is largely determined by the need to develop the most effective linguistic method suitable for research units and various phenomena of different levels in languages that are not connected by common territorial spread, genetic affinity or structural uniformity, relevant in today's globalization of social, political and even linguistic space, but one that is able to take into account a national specificity of each involved in the study language on establishing universal features background equally.

After analyzing the achievements of predecessors and contemporaries in foreign and domestic linguistics and taking into account the heterogeneity and ambiguity of their proposals to solve this urgent problem, the author offer its own vision and technique to overcome this situation, which sees in creation and application of integrated method at the intersection of planes of leading contemporary linguistic areas.

Each of the sections and subsections of the submitted treatise could become a separate monograph, which explains the considerable theoretical commentary accompanied the main presentation and availability of various applications.

The author tried to combine profound theoretical interpretation of the phenomenon – semantic object – in English and Ukrainian languages with consistent and unambiguous argumentation of given reasons by involvement of wide factual material on both compared languages.
