Annotation.

Abstract

Background: The study is performed in the aspect of literary onomastics and deals with the analysis of anthroponyms as components of onomastic space in the journalism of Ulas Samchuk (book of memoirs "On a White Horse").The topicality of the proposed research, on the one hand, is determined by scientific interest in anthroponyms, which, due to their expressive capabilities, richness of functions, unexpected authorial experiments, are an important representative of the writer’s creative idea, and on the other - interest in the heritage of those artists who has not been properly evaluated in Ukraine.

Purpose: The aim of the article was to establish the specifics of anthroponymic units as markers of the author’s idiostyle in the journalistic heritage of U. Samchuk.

Results: The analysis showed that in U. Samchuk’s journalistic texts anthroponyms are characterized not only by high frequency of use, but also help the reader to model the image of the author - an educated, erudite and spiritually rich person, to understand the importance of his life experience, to understand the events he portrays better therefore argue that anthroponyms are a relevant feature of the writer’s idiostyle in autobiographical journalism.

Discussion: The analysis of the onymicon in U. Samchuk’s journalistic work contributes to the further study of the peculiarities of literary onomastics in general and anthroponymicon in particular and makes it possible to comprehend the figure of the writer more deeply. We see the prospects of such research in the further study not only of anthroponyms in U. Samchuk’s journalistic texts, but also of other onyms in his work, not only in the aspect of literary onomastics, but also cognitive, taking into account the processes of conceptualization and categorization. The study of author’s onymicons should also be extended to the works of other writers, especially those who have been silent for a long time, but have done much for the development of Ukrainian culture.

Keywords: literary onomastics, anthroponym, surname, name, journalistic text, U. Samchuk.
