Abstract.

GREEN DESERTS OR FLOWERING PARADISE: THE CONCEPTUAL SPHERE OF NATURE THROUGH THE PRISM OF THE LANGUAGE OF SOCIAL NETWORKS

Abstract

Background: The problem of representation of the concepts of nature is one of the most important for the Ukrainian ethnos due to its traditional natural philosophy. Nowadays, there is no works devoted to the verbalization of the conceptual sphere “nature” in social networks, which demonstrate the dynamics of processes in the linguistic consciousness of the ethnic group. Accordingly, our scientific work is relevant.

Purpose: The purpose of the article is to analyze the linguistic means of representation of the conceptual sphere “nature” and its cognitive signs, to identify current problems of modern society related to the environment.

Results: The conceptual sphere “nature” is one of the main in the conceptual picture of the world. It reflects the experience of the ethnos in the form of general-universal and cultural-specific ideas about natural phenomena. The conceptual sphere “nature” in the discourse of social networks has three thematic groups: 1) nature as a space of life, ecosystem; 2) nature as a standard of beauty and harmony; 3) nature as a chaos of life, ecological threat, natural disaster; 4) nature as a harmonious accompaniment to the emotional state of a person, the background of his life and rest; 5) nature as a means of advertising. It depends on the author’s worldview, socio-economic and ecological conditions of the life of the modern person.

Discussion: Concepts of nature in social networks are ambivalent: on the one hand, they are positive, as a harmonious world (“nature is life”); on the other hand – negative, when there is an intersection of nature as spatial realities with the awareness of some ecological threats. They become a means of actualizing social problems. Modern speakers also use them for aesthetic, hedonistic, informational purposes and as a means of advertising. New cognitive signs are “nature as a harmonious accompaniment to the emotional state of a person and the background of his life and leisure”, and “nature as a means of advertising”. They testify dynamic processes in the language consciousness. The perspective of the research is a comparative analysis of the concepts of nature (Ukrainian and Polish, Ukrainian and English) according to the different socio-cultural context of the appropriate ethnic groups.

Key words: conceptual sphere “nature”, concept, the language of social networks, cognitive sign.
