Costume Debut: November 2024
Irvin had thoroughly enjoyed cosplaying house-elves thus far, so when he was thinking of a good costume to take to CONjuration 2024 that would be both fun and compact to travel with, he decided to stick with house-elves and cosplay the woebegone Winky.
Luckily, her appearance is vividly described: "She was wearing a neat little skirt and blouse with a matching blue hat." That, combined with elf ears and a bottle of butterbeer, was all that was needed for a Winky cosplay.
Of course, the clothes had to accurately reflect Winky's lack of care - "soup stains all down her blouse and a burn in her skirt." The skirt was already a little worse for the wear, but Irvin made sure to put soap stains all over the clothes for the proper effect.
But the most fun aspect of the cosplay was the roleplaying. Anytime anyone so much as locked eyes with Winky, she went off on a drunken tirade about how she wasn't drunk and how they were nosing into private business. For an example, witness this!
Winky had a great time (and engendered a good deal of empathy, given it was Day 3 of a convention). She also ran into a lady selling butterbeer off her cart, and got to do a very fun photo shoot buying up all the butterbeer - though the best photo ops were when Winky went to get some much-needed coffee (again, it was Day 3) and got to take pictures in the kitchen recreating the position in Mary GrandPre's chapter art for "The Madness of Mr. Crouch."
