Cornelius Fudge

Costume Debut: December 2014

Costume Reprised: MISTI-Con 2015

For many years in TGTSNBN, there has been a running joke about "Slumbridge and Hot Fudge" (Slutty Umbridge and Hot Cornelius Fudge). So, for TGTSNBN's ninth birthday party, Irvin and his friend Cheryl decided to make that joke a reality.

The first step was to outfit Slumbridge, for which Irvin and Cheryl had a most interesting shopping spree in St. Mark's. Conceptually, Slumbridge is easier - just slutty pink things. Hot Fudge is trickier. Obviously, the must-have item was a lime-green hat (a bowler hat in the books, but this sufficed as an approximation). This was the chief indicator of Fudge. Since Fudge frequently wears a pinstripe suit, Irvin went searching for a see-through striped shirt, which proved very difficult. In the end, the shirt had to be imported from Europe, and barely arrived in time. With the shirt and hat in place, the rest of the costume was filled out with tight black pants and a stripper collar and cuffs. Irvin felt this costume was a good representation of his six years (at the time) with TGTSNBN - equal parts silly and slutty.

The party was on December 20th, with temperatures hovering at freezing point, leading to this pearl of wisdom: "I've learned that December 20th is not the best time to dress as a stripper." But once inside the party, it was exceedingly hot, even with the sheer shirt. True to form, Irvin kept unbuttoning the shirt as the night went on, until it was completely open. When two silly guys asked what he intended to do next, he just took the shirt off - duh.

Very fittingly, Irvin won "Pin the Tail on the Umbridge" - because who but Fudge should win that? He also won the trivia contest about TGTSNBN's history - figures the Minister of Magic knows all there is to know.

Of note, this is the first couples costume in years that Irvin partook in - it was great fun!

Irvin brought the costume to MISTI-Con 2015, and wore it to the wizard rock concert - it's an excellent outfit for dancing in. Due to scheduling issues, Cheryl was not Slumbridge at the time, but Irvin's friend Jen did dress as Umbridge to accompany him. This time, Irvin went the extra mile and got fluffy pink handcuffs. Thus, whenever someone asked who he was, he'd whip out the handcuffs and say, "I'm Hot Fudge, and I'm looking for my Slumbridge!"
