Ke$ha

Costume Debut: March 2024

When the team behind the themed dance parties that Irvin loves attended organized a new one, Levels, based on "throwback electro-pop," Irvin seized upon the opportunity to dress up as one of his favorite singers, Ke$ha.  With the years, Irvin's appreciation of Ke$ha's bangers like Take It Off, We R Who We R, and "Die Young has only increased, as he's seen it liven up countless dance parties in need of a pulse.

For the costume, Irvin took guidance from the lyrics of We R Who We R: "When we've got our hot pants on and up," "Got that glitter on my eyes / Stockings ripped all up the side / Looking sick and sexified."  Luckily, plenty of those elements were ready to go in Irvin's closet.

The biggest challenge actually proved to be the bangles that had to adorn the wrist - Irvin's hands are really big, so he couldn't borrow any of his friends', and had to keep getting bigger ones on Amazon.  The rest was just a matter of assembly and attention to detail - Irvin covered his face in glitter, put in a nose ring, and then put on countless necklaces/bangles/rings/etc.

The costume got an enthusiastic response at the dance party, and to Irvin's relief, they played three Ke$ha songs throughout the night.  Blow to start off, and the inevitable Tik Tok... but the real prize was at the end of the night, when the DJ played We R Who We R.  Irvin as Ke$ha was dancing his heart out, and was pulled up onto the stage to perform the song for everyone, as seen in the video below.

Before ending the night, Irvin had to get a video of himself reciting the iconic line, "The party don't start 'til I walk in!"  Irvin has often referred to himself as the "reverse Ke$ha," because "the party don't end 'til I walk out!"  Sure enough, he was among the revelers closing out the night, looking forward to doing it all again soon.
