Puffs 2019

Irvin eventually wanted to cosplay every single member of the Puffs cast, and was planning on inching towards that goal in 2019. However, everything changed when Puffs made the absolutely shocking announcement that they would be closing August 18th. This made Irvin devote all of his energy to a "Summer of Puffs," as he finally did all of the Puffs-related things he had always meant to. In addition to writing A LOT about Puffs, Irvin also created a really epic performance for Lip-Sync Battle at MISTI-Con 2019, as seen below. It was based on a deleted ending he heard about during the first few performances of Puffs, where Wayne met Cedric and Helga in the White Room.

After MISTI-Con, Irvin determined that he would see the last FOUR evening performances of Puffs - the Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of Closing Week. It was a theatre blitz unprecedented in his life, and was really all-consuming in those final days. (It was also regrettably unseasonal - Puffs costumes are not meant to be worn daily in August!) So he had four cosplay opportunities to do all that he needed to do - cosplay the three remaining members of the cast he hadn't yet cosplayed (Zac Moon, Andy Miller, and Madeleine Bundy), as well as one slot left over. He agonized over the decisions of whom to cosplay when, as he felt the pressure mounting for the choices to be meaningful. That pressure only mounted as he chatted with the cast after every one of those performances, with all of them very interested in his daily cosplays! Everyone was asking what Irvin would wear for the final night!

In the end, he did those three remaining cast members, plus Rita Scooter to honor the fact that he became a theatre journalist thanks to Puffs. For the final night, he brought it full-circle by cosplaying the original outfit of Wayne Hopkins from the PIT. In the end, Irvin had seen Puffs 24 times and cosplayed 20 different characters, an important way (to him) to honor the legacy of this incredible show!
