Taylor Swift's Rival

The team behind Disney DJ Night decided to expand into other themes, and put on a Taylor Swift themed dance party in July 2019.  Despite being in the throes of planning for conventions, Irvin cobbled together a costume out of his closet for the event.  He and his friends did a group cosplay of Taylor Swift's music video for You Belong With Me - Angelica was Taylor, Nate was the love interest, and Irvin dressed as the rival (also played by Taylor in the music video!).  The lyrics were fairly explicit about costuming: "she wears high heels," "she wears short skirts," and "she's cheer captain."  Irvin used those as a guiding force, and brought out a historical wizard rock artifact for the cheerleading portion: a pom-pom from Swish and Flick.

The biggest challenge was the heels - they were fine to walk and stand around in, but proved to be quite the challenge to dance in.  It gave Irvin a whole new appreciation for what girls accomplish every time they go clubbing in heels.

When You Belong With Me came on, the group took center stage, recreating all the most iconic moments of the music video (which had been diligently studied) - as seen below.  And the twist ending: Taylor ends up with the guy, but her rival ends up with the DJ!  Happy ending for everybody!
