Paul (Monstersongs)

Costume Debut: Halloween 2017

Costume Reprised: Halloween 2019

Rob Rokicki released a CD/graphic novel combo called Monstersongs, where each song is from the point of view of a monster.  One of the tracks, "Blood + Brains," is about a teenage vampire and zombie in love with the same jock (Paul), swearing to "love him until there's nothing left!"  So for the concert celebrating the release of the CD, Irvin dressed up as Paul, the jock in question.  With a neck covered in vampire bites, and a brain sticking out of his hair, he was ready for Halloween even if most folks didn't understand that it was a specific reference.  But he did manage to snag a picture with Sarah Beth Pfeifer, who was singing the role of the vampire in question.

Two years later, there was another Monstersongs concert at 54 Below.  Irvin eagerly jumped at the opportunity to reprise what may be his most obscure cosplay, and this time, he convinced his friend Allie to be the vampire who's in love with Paul.  (Luckily, that was pretty much a closet cosplay.)  Not only was Rob really excited to see multiple people cosplaying his work, but the artist of the graphic novel, David O'Neill, was also there - and it was the first time he had seen a cosplay of his own work!  Irvin made sure to get photos with both of them.
