Narrator (Puffs)

Irvin and his friends decided to do a big group cosplay of the Puffs characters when attending their Wizard Nights. Irvin is a perfect doppelganger for AJ Ditty, the actor who plays the Narrator of the show, so the choice of costume was a no-brainer.

Of course, the devils are in the details: Irvin made "The Tragic Yet Rewarding History of the Puffs" book (ironically covering Great Expectations), and brought a box of tissues to give out to people so they wouldn't be sad forever.

The cast and creative team of Puffs was super excited, and at one point actually mistook Irvin for AJ. Mission accomplished!

Since Irvin was a loyal supporter of Puffs, the producers and marketers of the show reached out to him with a surprise request: dress up as the Narrator, enter Big Apple Con's costume contest, and use the opportunity to promote Puffs. Even better: they would pay Irvin to do this. As Irvin excitedly told anyone who would listen, since he was now getting paid, he was a "professional cosplayer." Getting together all his props, and even buying magic chocolate to give to people so they wouldn't be sad forever, Irvin gave a short spiel reading from The Tragic Yet Rewarding History of the Puffs. The endeavor was a success, as several people came up to him afterwards and said that he'd convinced them to go see Puffs.

When AJ Ditty announced he was leaving the show in August 2018, Irvin went to see his last performance. And though AJ was one of several people leaving, there was no question in Irvin's mind that the Narrator was the one to cosplay, bringing everything full circle. (Apparently, Irvin is becoming predictable: the cast of Puffs debated backstage whom he would come dressed as, and AJ was the consensus.) It was an incredibly special performance, which had a Narrator both on stage and in the audience bawling his eyes out.
