Ghost of Christmas Past

Irvin was quite taken with Team StarKid's A VHS Christmas Carol when it debuted. So when StarKid announced their Jangle Ball Tour would be coming to New York City, Irvin upheld his time-honored tradition of dressing as StarKid characters for their events. Aiming for an outfit that was striking but doable, he went with the Ghost of Christmas Past (as played by Jaime Lyn Beatty), since her song is among the most delightful in the show.

The outfit seemed straightforward (if, perhaps, inadvisable for a frigid December evening)... but it ended being perhaps the most emotionally distressing cosplay Irvin has ever done. Through a snafu where Amazon failed to deliver blue legwarmers, and a friend who'd borrowed Irvin's white tights and hadn't returned them, pulling this outfit together turned into a harrowing weekend-long quest spanning the farthest reaches of New York City. Apparently, there is absolutely nowhere in NYC one can actually purchase blue legwarmers and white tights!

However, it was worth it in the end! The costume came together beautifully, and Irvin was showered with compliments at the concert as he went through each of the Ghost's poses. Afterwards, despite Team StarKid being under strict orders to not fraternize with fans, Jaime Lyn Beatty ducked around a corner to take a couple of photos! She was one of the sweetest performers Irvin's met, very excited to see a fan who's that level of dedicated.
