A group costume with Will Friedle serving as Ron!
At Irvin's first AwesomeCon, in 2016, he did a Kim Possible cosplay (Ron Stoppable) because he got a photo with Will Friedle (the voice actor). That went so well, Irvin decided to do it again in 2018, at the behest of his friends who did not yet have photos with Will Friedle. Thus, a group Kim Possible cosplay was born: Angelica as Kim, Abby as Rufus, and Irvin as the villainous Dr. Drakken. (Ron was left out since that's Will Friedle's role.)
The costume is actually deceptively comfortable, since it's essentially a bathrobe. The hardest part was crafting the belt and the collar (they needed the lime-green buckle added) and doing the makeup. Irvin and company were among a crowd of many KP cosplayers, but Irvin was the only Drakken. Fortuitously, they ran into a Shego as soon as they arrived at the con.
The group photo was a wonderful experience - especially since Irvin got to "forget" Will's name, as Drakken always does. Will Friedle was a very big fan of the costumes - after the photo was taken and the cosplayers left, they heard Will gleefully telling his handlers, "That was Dr. Drakken! That's awesome!"
It was also a very good opportunity to be ridiculous and yell at both Angelica and all the other Kim Possible cosplayers. Irvin even got a few videos of Drakken doing his best lines:
Five years later, Irvin had started taking ballroom dance lessons again with a new partner, Yelena, and they were set to make their debut at a Halloween ballroom social. It was all a little last-minute, so they needed outfits that were ready to go. After some pondering, they realized that they had Drakken and Shego costumes, respectively, ready to go! So they decided to perform two dances as Drakken and Shego - a cha-cha to "Call Me, Beep Me" (the theme song) and a rhumba to "Could It Be" (from the movie). Two hasty choreography sessions and several weeks of practice later, the numbers were ready, and can be seen below!
Irvin invited Sarah to the ballroom social with the instructions, "Come to this thing! Kim Possible costumes encouraged!" Fortunately, Sarah is good at following instructions, and showed up as the Kim Possible to antagonize Drakken and Shego. She thought she was all that... but she's not!
