2019

2019 saw more congoing than any previous year, so there were a lot of new costumes this year! But there were some debuts even outside of that. Notably, in June Irvin completed the set of D.A.D.A. professors by cosplaying Mad-Eye Moody.

2019 was, in many ways, Peak Cosplay for Irvin. He bought a sewing machine, which provided him with the means. And he attended two major HP conventions in the same month, which provided the opportunity. They provided the chance the create some new costumes, update some old ones, and just go all out with showing off the depth of Irvin's cosplay closet.

First up was Leviosa 2019, where Irvin cosplayed eight different characters - among others, Irvin updated Rita Skeeter in what would become one of his signature cosplays throughout the summer, and added a meta-narrative by having her write articles about the other characters he was cosplaying.

But Leviosa 2019 was the opening act for MISTI-Con 2019, where Irvin went harder than ever before. He broke his own record by wearing 15 cosplays during the convention, including 7 in one day! A fun thing was that he'd given people the number of cosplays to expect, so throughout the weekend, everyone was keeping a tally. "Which one is this? #12?" Irvin also created the single most extra cosplay he's ever done, and built a human-size cauldron from scratch for the resurrection of Lord Voldemort.

A curious bit of trivia, though: 2019 is only the second year, since 2014, that no new female HP cosplay was created. It's because Irvin is honestly beginning to run out of female HP characters that haven't been cosplayed!
