Hercules

Costume Debut: October 2015

Costume Reprised: June 2018, April 2019

When Irvin's friends organized a bowling night with a "Heroes and Villains" theme, Irvin continued to work his way through the characters of Hercules by cosplaying the titular character. While lacking in muscle to convincingly cosplay Hercules, Irvin could pull off the teenage version of the hero. The costume was created by getting creative with several white t-shirts.

Three years later, Irvin brought young Hercules back for Disney DJ Night - a quarterly dance party where everyone dances and belts Disney songs for four hours. He and his friends had a group Hercules costume going - Angelica was Meg, Abby was Phil, Sam was Hera, and Gigi was a Muse. Photos here! Irvin got a fancy Medal of the Gods to set off the costume, and a better swirly pin for the shoulder, but otherwise the costume remains effective in its simplicity. Given how how one gets after four hours of vigorous dancing, this costume was definitely the correct choice to be comfortable - even though it was practically sliding off once it had soaked up enough sweat.

Throughout the night, the Hercules gang was up on stage for every single musical number from the movie (and many others besides). Irvin's shining moment came in a very emotional rendition of Go the Distance towards the end of the night - it appears there's no video because everyone was just too busy feeling things!

The April 2019 cosplay

Irvin decided to wear the Hercules cosplay again to a Little Mermen concert in April 2019 - as fate would have it, that was the concert where lead singer Alexis debuted his Hercules costume! And comparing Irvin's and Alexis's builds, the split between teen Hercules and grown-up Hercules was extremely accurate to body type.

Irvin's friend Amber filled the role of Phil this time around, and had a lot of fun hassling him. Just when the two of them were taking photos, a girl dressed as Meg showed up and joined in - it was kismet! Afterwards, Irvin got to put his Photoshop skills to good use, creating biceps in the photos that were worthy of a Greek god, as seen above.
