Barbie

Given that 2023 was the summer of Barbie, it wasn't long before Irvin had the need to pull together a Barbie outfit.

Luckily, Irvin had enough pink pieces from various other outfits to pull together the outfit right from his closet - the costume is largely a tweak on Elle Woods from Legally Blonde.

The first occasion to wear it actually came before the movie even came out, when there was a Barbie Rave in New York City.  Irvin was bold enough to go to a dance party in strappy pink heels, which paid off in the number of compliments he got on the outfit (and the commitment to the theme).  Irvin as Barbie danced the night away with some new friends, making sure to get photos with every other Barbie and Ken they met on the dance floor.

The second occasion was when Irvin's friend Yelena threw a Barbie-themed birthday party (the first of several that year) at the end of July.  Irvin went as Barbie, of course, but had to make the outfit a bit more summery because that pink jacket was not a good idea in July.

That party later led to perhaps the stupidest question Irvin ever heard from a coworker.  Upon hearing he'd attended a Barbie-themed birthday, the coworker asked, "Did you go as Barbie or Ken?"  Irvin could barely keep his eyes from rolling.
