Max Goof

In March 2022, Irvin decided at the last minute to attend 90s Con, a convention in Connecticut dedicated to all the pop culture of the 1990s.  Taking a gander at the guest list, he saw that two of the voice actors from A Goofy Movie would be attending: Jason Marsden (the voice of Max) and Jim Cummings (the voice of Pete, as well as characters in just about every animated movie of the era).

So Irvin decided to craft a closet cosplay for A Goofy Movie from things he already had around the house.  A little felt and glue created Max's ears, and the rest was just a matter of assembly.

Irvin got photos with both of the actors.  He thanked Jim Cummings for "voicing my childhood."  Jason was so excited to see the full-on cosplay, and at a query from Irvin about whether he did the iconic Goofy laugh in the movie, Jason did the laugh then and there, saying "I get it from my dad!"

Since there was not much cosplay at 90s Con, everyone Irvin encountered - from guests to vendors, and even other celebrities like Will Friedle - immediately asked, "Has Jason seen you?"  Everyone was emotionally invested in getting the two Maxes together.  Irvin reassured them that the Maxes had indeed gotten a photo together, and it was glorious!

Irvin reprised the costume about a year later for a Little Mermen concert, wanting something quick to put on and comfy to dance in.  The costume proved to be a big hit with the attendees and performers alike, and was totally worth it when the band played both "Eye to Eye" and "Stand Out" and Irvin got to dance his heart out.
