Moaning Myrtle

For TGTSNBN's Fall 2017 Cosplay Day, perfectly timed for Halloween, Irvin debuted Moaning Myrtle. She was one of the most fun characters he's cosplayed in a while, getting to be annoying and obnoxious all the time, with a photo op at every single bathroom.

It's also one of the more comfortable costumes as far as HP cosplay goes - Ravenclaw student gear, white tights, white makeup, big glasses, and a very bouncy grey wig. The whole thing was draped in toilet paper (Irvin carried a roll, because the TP kept shedding). It also provided for a hilarious opportunity for a photo shoot inside a bathroom (as seen above), undertaken with good humor by TGTSNBN's leader Jon.

Irvin was so taken with cosplaying Myrtle, he did it again a few months later for TGTSNBN's annual costumed ice skating event. The primary motivation was allowing toilet paper to stream behind him as he skated. Not since Draco Malfoy was an HP costume so readily recognized and appreciated by muggles! It offered Irvin a perfect opportunity to whine and ham it up, which is all anyone wants out of a weekend afternoon.

Near the ice rink, there was a frozen lake. Irvin had to be dissuaded for going out onto the lake for photo (because Myrtle does end up in the lake quite often), but contented himself with a photo shoot next to the lake. (It didn't help matters that there was a sword frozen in the ice in the middle of the lake, and Irvin thinks he would make an excellent British monarch.)

Irvin's fondness for Myrtle didn't fade: he brought her to two conventions in the summer of 2019, both Leviosa and MISTI-Con (notably, she's the only non-new costume to be at both cons aside from Lockhart). At Leviosa, as soon as Myrtle showed up wailing her head off, the con's official photographer dragged her to the bathroom for a photo shoot (as one does). The only thing that served to cheer Myrtle up was a cardboard cutout of Draco Malfoy in the common room, which proved to be an excellent prop for photographs.

Myrtle had a very busy day at Leviosa. First off, it was Irvin's first ever joint presentation at a convention, presenting Reading HP Through the Ages with Lorrie Kim. Since the discussion was about Irvin and Lorrie's different approaches to reading HP because of their ages, Myrtle served as a very effective visual aid, perched on the desk and chatty in contrast to Lorrie's calm and professional demeanor. Then Myrtle got a chance to meet and hang out with the members of Team StarKid who were at the con - she proved a fun conversation starter, and now Irvin has hilarious photos of Myrtle with the StarKids. They chatted about cosplay and musical theatre (Irvin bonded with Jamie Lynn Beatty about how Ursula is the best), and Irvin even got a chance to give Dylan Saunders a copy of his book!

At MISTI-Con 2019, Myrtle showed up with a twist. There was a Rave 'n' Claw dance party at the con. Instead of glowsticks and the like, Irvin just used glow-in-the-dark white makeup for Myrtle, so she would glow with a ghostly essence! And since Myrtle is a Ravenclaw, she was perfect for the event! Myrtle was Irvin's seventh costume of the day (a record he is not eager to break anytime soon!), and she had an awful lot of fun dancing at the party - and draping herself all over any eligible young wizards! The draped toilet paper helped with all the dancing!
