Irvin always has costumed birthday parties, so for his twenty-second, the theme was Two-Faced Characters - the most duplicitous and treacherous characters across all fandoms. And once Irvin saw the new Disney movie Frozen, he knew that Hans would be the absolutely perfect character for the event!

This costume was mostly made from scratch. All Irvin had to work with was the vest and sash, and boots. Everything else was bought new, and he even sewed the epaulets onto the tailcoat himself. The sideburns proved very successful, with many guests suggesting that Irvin grow them out for real.

At the party, a new ship was conceived - Hans and Gaston! They would obviously be perfect together, and they were given the ship name "Hairy Open Door." Irvin has plans for an epic fanfiction or even musical about their love.

In November 2014, Irvin and his friends attended Disney's Frozen on Ice, which was obviously a perfect opportunity to bring out this costume again. It was once again a bitterly cold night. The costume was met with great acclaim - a mob of parents and little children surrounded Irvin after the show, doubtless thinking he was an official character. A line formed to take pictures with him, with no end in sight. Even on the street and the subway, little children kept recognizing him and approaching him. This was all a fairly new experience, since children usually run away from Irvin's costumes.

Since it worked well the last time, Irvin wore it again three years later to the next Disney on Ice (which, true to form, was on an absolutely freezing night). Hans was popular with the kids again, constantly being stopped for photos by families - one couple tried to give him a baby to pose with, which Hans declared was way above his pay grade.

Hans is a trusty fallback for frigid November nights, so in another four years Irvin wore it to a Little Mermen concert. Regrettably, they did not perform "Love Is an Open Door" that night, but they did sing "Let It Go" - and Irvin's friends were treated to the incongruous sight of Hans belting Elsa's anthem.
