Britney Spears

Irvin loves themed dance parties, so decided to ring in his thirtieth birthday at a "Britney Spears vs Lady Gaga" dance party.  Of course, as a 90s kid, he would be dressing as Britney Spears (which had the added benefit of being a lower maintenance cosplay!).

After perusing his closet, it became clear all the elements were there to dress as Britney in her prep school uniform from the ...Baby One More Time music video.  (Although it was a closet cosplay, Irvin ended up surprised at just how involved the hairdo was!)

Since Irvin spent the entire weekend of his thirtieth birthday doing various activities in NYC, which would all lead up to the extravagant TriDecade Tournament the day after this dance party, none of his friends had the stamina to attend a dance that began at midnight.  Fortunately, Irvin's costume ensured he was quickly befriended by the biggest Britney fans in the club.  And when the dance party kicked off with no other song but ...Baby One More Time, Irvin took it as a sign that he made the right decision!

Britney then became an unexpected staple of Irvin's costume repertoire.  That same year, his company threw an office Halloween party.  Irvin needed a costume that was (mostly) suitable for work, didn't involve hours of makeup, and stood a chance of being recognized by coworkers freshly from France... after much deliberation, Britney was the perfect choice.  Sure enough, as soon as Irvin showed up, the office manager called out, "It's Britney, bitch!"

The following summer, the outfit returned when Irvin and his friends attended the Britney Spears jukebox musical on Broadway, Once Upon a One More Time.  Everyone from audiences to the actors at the stage door were impressed with the outfit and wanted pictures with Britney!
