Disco Merman

Costume Debut: June 2026

Following Irvin's 34th birthday and the Double Dancing Queen getup, Irvin decided he was in his disco era - and when no other theme readily presented itself, Irvin suggested to his friends that they go to the Mermaid Parade as Disco Mermaids.

It proved a very fun prompt.  FIrst things first, Irvin got disco ball nipple pasties to keep it classy.  A sheer top with a grid of sequins was perfect for the look, though Irvin was disappointed it didn't lead to an epic sunburn.  He then got a silver wig and silvery-blue mermaid tights, and made sure to cover anythign and everything in glitter.  Irvin had no shortage of disco accessories to set off the look - bracelets, necklaces, even a string of mini-discoballs repurposed as a belt.  The finishing touch was big round sunglasses, with the frames painted silver to further evoke disco balls.

As luck would have, Irvin wasn't the only one with this idea, and encountered several groups of disco mermaids throughout the day!  Even if their costumes were fancier, no one had more fun than Irvin's group shimmying and dancing throught he parade!  THe weather was perfect, leading to a very long day at the beach afterwards, where Irvin got fully in character as the disco merman and went properly swimming in Coney Island... disco balls and all!
