For Irvin's 33rd birthday, he threw a Trios-themed party. And upon coming up with the theme, he immediately thought of the perfect trio-unto-himself costume to wear: Fluffy!
The easy way out would have been to order a ready-made Cerberus onesie, and Irvin tried, but that onesie said it was on its way from the Netherlands with two weeks to go... and it was still on its way a week after the party, so Plan B was to make the Fluffy costume from scratch.
Irvin got the slippers and mittens separately, ordered a onesie and three latex dog masks, then set about trying to attach them. First he tried sewing, with the end result of one head being mostly attached and a completely broken sewing machine left in its wake. Second, hot glue was attempted, but wouldn't adhere to the latex. So, third time's the charm - safety pins and determination were all that held the costume together, but it worked! And as always, Irvin used air pillows to give the heads their form.
The party was a wonderfully chaotic success, and the Fluffy costume lent itself well to delightfully ridiculous hugs with all the attendees. Irvin had a lot of fun with the three heads, and his only regret was not procuring musical instruments in time to "put Fluffy to sleep" - though after the work of putting together the party, no music was needed!

Irvin was very proud of the costume, so he brought it to CONjuration 2025 as the one non-Malfoy themed costume of the weekend. Also factoring into the decision: a onesie and slipper paws seemed like an excellent choice to wear on the last day of the con, when seeking comfort. While it did take up more than half of the luggage space for the trip, it was worth it! Fluffy met with a very enthusiastic reception, not least because of how ridiculously over-the-top it was in the midst of a bedraggled crowd that had partied all night. Fluffy received a lot of pets from the other attendees! One person explicitly said, after the convention was over, that it was his favorite costume of the con.
For the reprisal of the costume, Irvin got bigger paws to show off, and a custom-made tag online identifying him as "Fluffy Hagrid" - since the dog would be expected to take the owner's last name! - and placing his address as the third-floor corridor of Hogwarts.
Perhaps the funniest part of this endeavor was that Irvin delivered an academic presentation while dressed as Fluffy. After all, who's to say that Fluffy isn't a scholar? And then Fluffy spent an hour signing copies of Irvin's book, Malfoy, for readers - a friend got this wonderful photo where all three heads are intensely focused on the task at hand! They made sure to get the signature right. (For a moment, Irvin entertained the notion of signing books while wearing paws on his hands, but thought better of it.)
