Costume Debut: November 2024
To celebrate Dia de Los Muertos, Disney Concerts was showing Coco with a live orchestra playing the score. Irvin thought this would make a great addition to his Halloween festivities, and obviously needed a costume for the occasion.
The elements were simple and all on hand except for the signature red hoodie. In the movie, Miguel wears a hoodie with white stripes down the arms. After poring over several thrift stores, Irvin had to concede that such a hoodie was not forthcoming in the Land of the Living, and bought a plain red hoodie that he painted white stripes onto himself.
The event itself was wonderful - the place was decked out in holiday décor, with a live band in the lobby, and Irvin bawled just as much at Coco with a live orchestra. Afterwards, Irvin kept the festivities going by visiting Times Square and posing with the enormous Dia de Los Muertos puppets there.
Trying to sneak through the Land of the Dead
The next day, Irvin wanted to keep the Halloween festivities going by traveling to a pumpkin patch, but didn't quite have the willingness to paint himself into HIM again. So he donned Miguel's hoodie once more and traveled to the pumpkin patch, getting some beautiful autumnal photos, and even hitting a target in archery (maybe channeling a different Pixar hero?).
