คืิอ olmesartan medoxomil

เป็น angiotensin-II receptor antagonists คือ ARB

ในกลุ่มเดียวกับ Lorsartan, valsartan etc.

การใช้ยา ARB

US FDA ทุกตัวมีข้อบ่งชี้ ในการรักษาความดันโลหิตสูง ได้

ยาแต่ละตัวต่างกันที่ การป้องกันหรือชะลอ target organ damage

เช่น

ยา losartan มีข้อบ่งชี้ ในการรักษา severe hypertension, prevention of ESRD in type 2 diabetic nephropathy, และ

prevention of stroke in hypertensive patients with left ventricular hypertrophy

แต่ไม่มีข้อบ่งชี้ ในการรักษา prevention of progression in type 2 diabetic nephropathy (irbesartan),

heart failure (valsartan, candesartan) หรือ

intolerant to ACEI (valsartan, candesartan), และ

prevention of cardiovascular events in high-risk hypertensive patients (telmisartan).
