In FS2 this week, we have been continuing to build confidence in phonics, with a particular focus on spelling longer words and recognising tricky words that cannot always be sounded out. The children have been practising breaking words into smaller sounds and blending them carefully to support accurate spelling. We are also encouraging them to remember common tricky words by sight, helping to develop both their reading fluency and writing skills. It has been wonderful to see their growing independence and enthusiasm as they apply these skills in their everyday learning.
This week, the learners have been exploring 2D shapes through hands-on activities, focusing on how shapes can be rotated, resized, and moved into different positions. They experimented with changing the orientation of shapes and noticed how a shape can look different when turned or flipped.
They also worked on composing and decomposing shapes, combining familiar 2D shapes to create new ones, and breaking larger shapes into smaller parts. This helped deepen their understanding of how shapes fit together and relate to one another.
The children created their own shape pictures using a variety of 2D shapes, arranging them in creative ways to form recognisable images. Throughout the week, we encouraged the use of mathematical language such as sides, corners, rotate, turn, flip, combine, and separate, supporting learners in explaining their thinking and describing their shape arrangements.
This week, in Drawing Club we have been exploring a real-life time lapse video entitled, 'The Spring Awakening'. Our learners had to think outside the box when deciding on their character and setting. Some of our learners kept to real concepts of plants, growth and change and others learners leaned into their imagination and created spectacularly innovative scenarios such as flowers made out of metal, that need oil instead of water or unicorn shaped flowers that need rainbows and glitter to survive.
The children have been exploring the work of Mary Delany, creating their own natural pictures inspired by her style.
They used leaves, twigs, stones, and other wooden materials on black paper to make their designs stand out beautifully.
The children worked collaboratively, shared resources thoughtfully, and offered kind, constructive feedback to their peers throughout the activity.

Thank you for supporting this wonderful initiative.
We are pleased to share the launch of The Arabic Stories Digital Library, an innovative initiative from our Arabic Department designed to strengthen our culture of reading and academic excellence.
The platform provides a carefully curated collection of Arabic stories tailored to learners’ varying interests and proficiency levels. Learners are encouraged to read at least one story per week and complete a structured reflection task to deepen comprehension, enhance written expression, and develop critical thinking skills.
The library will continue to expand through regular updates, ensuring fresh and engaging content. This initiative supports independent learning, advances language development, and reinforces cultural identity — all aligned with our strategic vision and High Performance Learning framework.
Further details will be shared by Ms. Zenab after the half-term break.
Please find here the External PAID ECA Providers at Nadeen School for Term 3.
We are pleased to inform you that a dedicated email address has now been created for reporting learner absences. Please use attendance@nadeenschool.com to notify the school if your child will be absent on the day. All of the absence correspondence should as always go through the form tutor. This will help us ensure accurate attendance records and streamline communication. Thank you for your cooperation.
