Up and Coming Dates:
Saturday, 17th of January - Beach Clean Up
Thursday, 22nd of January - Nadeen's Birthday
This week in English, learners created a poem inspired by an extract from The Hound of the Baskervilles, focusing on the description of the road leading up to Baskerville Hall. Learners then analysed an example of a cliffhanger narrative and answered questions based on the model text. Finally, they created an inside–outside model to explore Dr Watson’s character, describing his thoughts and feelings on the inside and his actions and behaviour on the outside.
This week in Maths, learners compared fractions with the same denominator or the same numerator. They then compared fractions with different denominators and numerators, identifying the lowest common denominator to support their comparisons. Learners also practised adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominator.
This week in Science, learners created a scientific investigation to answer the question: Does the size of a parachute affect the time it takes to hit the ground? Learners developed a hypothesis, an equipment list, and a results table before designing and creating three parachutes of different sizes. They then recorded how long each parachute took to reach the ground when dropped from the balcony and used their results to support their conclusions.
This week in Enquiry Learning, learners explored the safety features of a fairground and identified the ten most important safety measures required. Learners then created their own fairground maps, carefully considering how these safety features would be included and positioned.

Dear Parents,
As part of our regular health and safety procedures and our ongoing commitment to maintaining accurate records, we will be sending a test SMS to all parents this Monday, 19th January.
This is a routine check to ensure our contact information is up to date and that we can reach all families promptly in the event of an emergency or important communication.
No action is required unless you do not receive the SMS. If that is the case, please contact us at Admissions@nadeenschool.com to update your details.
NOTE: SMSs will be sent to local numbers only; if you do not have one, please arrange to obtain a local number as we require 2 local contact numbers for each learner and a local emergency number different from the parents' numbers (This will be used in case of emergency only -not included in SMSs)

This week, learners learned about school tools. They identified the names of different tools and practised using them in simple sentences, with a focus on developing reading and writing skills.
Next week, learners will learn classroom instructions and key words and phrases used in class in Arabic, such as: "open the book," "sit quietly," "listen carefully," "raise your hand before speaking," "read the text carefully," and "write your answer clearly." This will help develop learners’ understanding, focus, and independence in class.
Home learning: A new task has been added to the Bravo Bravo platform.
In Year 5, we have been learning how to say what we are wearing. to get us warmed up, we had to listen to the new words and then touch that piece of clothing as quickly as we could.
We have started to look at word order and how, in French, the adjective tends to follow the noun. For example, 'je porte une jupe jaune'.
ECOVENTURE, UAE 2026

Thank you for your continued support in helping us make this a happy and memorable experience for all our learners!
We will begin phasing the purchasing of food from the canteen into Primary from Wednesday, 14th October, starting with Year 6 learners. To support the smooth operation of this process, learner cards will be kept in school and given to students at lunchtime to make purchases.
Please note: learners can only purchase food if they have a card.
If you would like your child to buy lunch from the canteen, you will need to purchase a learner card. Instructions for how to purchase the card can be found spare APP.
Please ensure there is sufficient money loaded onto the card to allow your child to buy food. You can use the SPARE app to top up the card, view what your child has eaten, and purchase meals in advance.
We are aiming to introduce this system to Year 4 and Year 5 learners after the half-term break. We need this time to carefully organise the process so that we can maximise efficiency and ensure a smooth experience for all learners.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this introductory phase.
