This week in English, learners completed their final biography writing on Ernest Shackleton, independently applying their planning, editing, and writer’s knowledge to produce a polished piece of work.
They then explored the difference between fact and opinion, learning how to identify each and justify their choices using evidence. This supported both their non-fiction writing and critical reading skills.
When we return from the break, learners will begin a new unit with a hook activity to introduce their new class text. Through discussion, sounds, and key vocabulary, they will make predictions and explore language to support their understanding and future writing.
Ask your child:
How can you tell whether a statement about Ernest Shackleton is a fact or an opinion?
Why is it important to justify opinions using evidence when writing a biography?
This week in maths, learners developed their understanding of algebra by solving problems with two unknowns. They used equations and logical reasoning to find missing values, explained their thinking, and compared different strategies to check their solutions.
When we return from the break, learners will begin work on decimals, focusing on place value and representing, partitioning, and comparing decimals using models such as place value charts and counters.
Ask your child:
How did you work out the values when there were two unknowns in an equation?
What strategy helped you most when solving algebra problems, and why?
📢 Exciting Enrichment Opportunities
Learners can also take part in exciting external maths challenges:
Human Calculator – Sign up using this link
AMS Olympiad – Full details available here
This week in Science, learners reviewed their knowledge of light and completed an assessment to demonstrate their understanding. They revisited key concepts including how light travels in straight lines, reflection, refraction, how shadows are formed, and how the size of a shadow can change depending on the distance from a light source. They also reflected on their understanding of scientific investigations, data collection, and analysis.
Next half term, we will begin exploring the circulatory system.
Ask your child:
What do you know about the human heart and blood? What can we do to make and keep our hearts healthy?
This week in Enquiry Learning, we have linked our lessons to International Week. In Year 6, our chosen continent was Europe.
Learners worked independently to research different European countries and created presentations showcasing some of the following:
-The meaning behind their chosen country’s flag
-Languages spoken
-Famous landmarks
-The country’s location on a map
Learners also explored culture through food by researching traditional dishes and designing a menu inspired by their chosen country.
After the break, learners will begin an exciting new topic in which they will be designing and making their own cushion covers, developing their creativity and practical design skills.
Ask your child:
What interesting facts did you learn about the country you researched?
What traditional foods did you include in your menu, and why are they important to that country’s culture?
We are delighted to share our Home Learning Choice Board for this half term. This is an optional activity board for your child to complete. There are nine practical and engaging activities to choose from, please select up to three.
You can share your child’s completed activities with your class teacher, they will provide brief feedback to your child in class time.

As part of our wonderful International Week, learners took part in a French food tasting activity.
We began by talking about what French children like to eat for breakfast and compared this to what we normally eat in the mornings.
Learners were then invited to taste croissant, baguettes, cheese (brie) and jam (Confiture Bonne Maman Fraises).
We wished one another a 'bon appétit' and practised saying what we liked and what we didn't like plus what we loved and hated.

On Wednesday, Nadeen proudly hosted the 2026 Bahrain Eco-Summit as part of the growing collaboration established by the Bahrain Sustainable Schools Partnership (BSSP).
We were honoured to welcome 14 schools and over 100 learners to our campus, coming together to share ideas, collaborate and explore meaningful approaches to sustainability.
Founded in 2023, the Eco-Summit has quickly become a key event in Bahrain’s school calendar, uniting schools, sustainability partners and local organisations with a shared purpose: strengthening environmental education and empowering young people to lead positive change.
Through learner-led presentations, hands-on workshops and collaborative discussions, the Summit provided a powerful reminder that real progress happens when communities work together.
By hosting this year’s event, Nadeen reaffirms its commitment to nurturing environmentally responsible learners and supporting partnerships that help build a more sustainable future for Bahrain.
On Monday, we were delighted to host TeachMeet 5: The AI Edition, bringing educators together to explore the evolving role of artificial intelligence in education.
Led by AI Transformation Leader Luis I. Cortes, the session considered AI within both a global and regional context, while keeping a clear focus on what matters most, ensuring technology enhances learning without replacing the human relationships, judgement and care that define great education.
The event reflects our ongoing commitment to thoughtful innovation and our High Performance Learning approach, preparing learners to be adaptable, reflective and confident in a rapidly changing world.
We are pleased to share the launch of The Arabic Stories Digital Library, an innovative initiative from our Arabic Department designed to strengthen our culture of reading and academic excellence.
The platform provides a carefully curated collection of Arabic stories tailored to learners’ varying interests and proficiency levels. Learners are encouraged to read at least one story per week and complete a structured reflection task to deepen comprehension, enhance written expression, and develop critical thinking skills.
The library will continue to expand through regular updates, ensuring fresh and engaging content. This initiative supports independent learning, advances language development, and reinforces cultural identity — all aligned with our strategic vision and High Performance Learning framework.
Further details will be shared by Ms. Zenab after the half-term break.
Please find here the External PAID ECA Providers at Nadeen School for Term 2.
We are pleased to inform you that a dedicated email address has now been created for reporting learner absences. Please use attendance@nadeenschool.com to notify the school if your child will be absent on the day. All of the absence correspondence should as always go through the form tutor. This will help us ensure accurate attendance records and streamline communication. Thank you for your cooperation.
