This week in English, learners explored key vocabulary from Ather and the Golden Rope to build a strong understanding of the story. They used drama to step into the scenes, acting out key moments to deepen their comprehension and engagement. Building on this, learners also wrote setting descriptions inspired by the story, using descriptive words and phrases to show what can be seen, heard, or felt in the scene. This helped them bring the story to life in their writing while developing their vocabulary and imagination.
Spellings
This week our spelling focus is on homophones. Please support your child at home with these.

This week in Maths, Year 4 learners explored the 7, 11 and 12 times tables and stepped up their thinking by multiplying three numbers together! They used clever strategies, spotted patterns, and explained their reasoning with growing confidence as they tackled trickier challenges and made exciting connections between facts.
This week, learners explored how sound volume relates to vibration strength. They learned that louder sounds result from larger vibrations, while quieter sounds are produced by smaller vibrations. This discovery helped them understand the connection between the intensity of sound and the size of the vibrations creating it.
Enquiry Learning
This week, Year 4 learners finished their discussions on why the Roman Empire was so successful, linking their understanding of the army, organisation, and leadership.
They then moved on to investigating Roman shields, exploring their designs and learning about how they were used by soldiers in battle. The learners examined different shapes, colours, and symbols and discussed how shields helped protect Roman soldiers and work together as an army. We then began our art project, where the learners started making their own Roman shields using cardboard, paper, and foil.

In Year 4, our focus this week was on developing our speaking. We played a dice roll game in small groups which enabled us to name family members numerous times.
We then took it in turns to say in French how many brothers, sisters or cousins we have.
We are pleased to inform you that a dedicated email address has now been created for reporting learner absences. Please use attendance@nadeenschool.com to notify the school if your child will be absent on the day. All of the absence correspondence should as always go through the form tutor.
