This week in English, learners used their plans to write their completed newspaper reports, applying the writer’s knowledge they developed throughout the unit. They included features such as using dashes to add extra information, choosing between formal and informal language, and incorporating both direct and indirect speech to report events clearly. Learners also practised selecting active or passive voice to suit the purpose of the sentence and used semicolons to write phrases in a list. By combining these skills, they produced well-structured, detailed newspaper reports that show strong progress and growing confidence in their writing.
This week in maths, we continued our work on fractions by finding fractions of a whole before moving on to finding fractions of an amount. Learners then began revisiting key skills from across the unit, including dividing and multiplying fractions by both fractions and whole numbers, finding fractions of a whole, and calculating fractions of an amount. They also applied their understanding to a range of problem-solving questions linked to these concepts.
This week in Science, learners continued exploring sustainable energy and applied their understanding to real-life problems around the school.
They worked on designing solutions that use renewable energy sources—such as wind and solar power—to make our school more environmentally friendly.
Learners thought carefully about practicality, impact, and sustainability as they refined and completed their energy-saving designs.
This week, our Year 6 learners proudly completed their Hundertwasser-inspired paintings, showcasing their understanding of colour, pattern, and creative architecture.
We ended the week with our Celebration of Learning, where parents joined us to view the artworks and take part in the activity. It was a wonderful morning filled with creativity and great conversations.
Thank you to all the families who attended and supported our learners — they were incredibly proud to share their work!

Year 6 Learners had their first experience of partner dictation in this week's lessons.
The activity consists of learners working in pairs with one being the runner and the other being the writer. The runner moves around the classroom and reads sentences, memorising as much of them as they can then reciting them to their writer partner.
Halfway through, everyone swaps round so that they experience both roles.
Points were awarded for accuracy including the correct placement of apostrophes and accents.
A group of enthusiastic Year 5 and 6 musicians enjoyed an inspiring trip to the Bahrain National Theatre, where they attended an educational concert performed by the Bahrain National Orchestra. During the visit, the learners learnt about the different sections of the orchestra and how each family of instruments contributes to the overall sound. They were captivated by a programme that featured traditional Arabic music alongside well-known pieces from the stage and screen, giving them a rich and varied musical experience. The trip left the young musicians buzzing with excitement and a deeper appreciation for orchestral music.

Christmas with a Pawfect Purpose.
In the spirit of Nadeen’s core values of love, care, and community, we are excited to introduce “Christmas with a Pawfect Purpose.” This special initiative gives our community an opportunity to spread kindness during the festive season by supporting our animal friends in need.
In collaboration with Bahrain Rescues we will be setting up a Christmas tree in the learner entrance decorated with wish-list tags. Each tag will include an item or small contribution that families may choose to provide. Children are welcome to pick a tag from the tree and bring in the corresponding item.
Our Wishlist (all items valued at 5 BD or less):
A bag of cat litter
A bag of cat or dog food
A cosy winter blanket for the dogs
Cleaning supplies
Apples or carrots for Bahrain Rescues’ resident donkey, Dolly
Thank you for helping us make this festive season extra meaningful through small acts of compassion that make a big difference. Your support truly embodies the kindness at the heart of our school community.
Winter Shoebox Appeal
Nadeen School is once again supporting the Migrant Workers Protection Society (MWPS) Winter Shoebox Appeal. This annual initiative takes place in November, as we approach the winter season, and aims to collect essential items for vulnerable members of our community.
We invite your child to participate by helping to pack a decorated shoebox or backpack with much-needed items. The children will box these up at home and bring them into school.
Please see the attached flyer for general information. We are asking for donations of toiletries (such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, and shampoo) and dry foods, including lentils, rice, dried milk powder, and spices.
We will be collecting donations from next week in the Learner entrance and our contributions will be handed over to the MWPS later on.
Every donation makes a difference, and your support for this important cause is deeply appreciated.
