This week in English, the learners have begun planning their diary entries. They revisited the illustrations and carefully selected which topiary their diary will focus on. As part of their planning, they have been including adverbs ending in -ly, expanded noun phrases, and a range of conjunctions. This process has helped them recap all the skills they have learned so far. The children are making thoughtful notes in their planning to support them when they begin writing their full diary entry next week.
Home learning
Spelling practice. Your child could draw, paint, sing or write them! A spelling quiz will take place every Thursday morning.

In Maths this week, the learners have been focusing on identifying and exploring 2D and 3D shapes.
The learners enjoyed handling a variety of 3D shapes to help them recognise their features, including faces, edges, and vertices.
Home Learning
To support their learning, children can continue exploring shapes at home.
For example:
-Can you find any 3D shapes around your house?
-Can you count the faces on a box or a tin?
-How many sides or faces do different 3D shapes have?
In Science this week, we took our learning outside to explore and investigate the different plants growing in the school grounds.
The learners had to determine if the plant's needs were met and complete an observational sketch of the plant.
In Enquiry Learning we have been looking at our local area on a map. We have been practising telling direction around our local area and sorted different modes of travelling. We have also been learning about different countries and the continents that they are on.
Home Learning
To further support their learning, please explore the weather in different countries with your child using the Meteoblue website.
Well done to all our WOLVES in Year 2!

Dear Parents,
The Ministry of Health and Education of Bahrain, requires that all learners joining Grade 1 which is Year 2 must have a compulsory medical health check examination completed and signed by a doctor in Bahrain in order for an early detection for any chronic disease.
Please attach a letter sent by the Health Care Centers.
I would be grateful if the examination form could be sent to me no later than 15th of January 2026 to nurse@nadeenschool.com, including your child’s name and class with a copy of the latest updated vaccination record. Please see more information here.
I appreciate your cooperation with this mandatory health record.
Christmas with a Pawfect Purpose.
In the spirit of Nadeen’s core values of love, care, and community, we are excited to introduce “Christmas with a Pawfect Purpose.” This special initiative gives our community an opportunity to spread kindness during the festive season by supporting our animal friends in need.
In collaboration with Bahrain Rescues we will be setting up a Christmas tree in the learner entrance decorated with wish-list tags. Each tag will include an item or small contribution that families may choose to provide. Children are welcome to pick a tag from the tree and bring in the corresponding item.
Our Wishlist (all items valued at 5 BD or less):
A bag of cat litter
A bag of cat or dog food
A cosy winter blanket for the dogs
Cleaning supplies
Apples or carrots for Bahrain Rescues’ resident donkey, Dolly
Thank you for helping us make this festive season extra meaningful through small acts of compassion that make a big difference. Your support truly embodies the kindness at the heart of our school community.
Winter Shoebox Appeal
Nadeen School is once again supporting the Migrant Workers Protection Society (MWPS) Winter Shoebox Appeal. This annual initiative takes place in November, as we approach the winter season, and aims to collect essential items for vulnerable members of our community.
We invite your child to participate by helping to pack a decorated shoebox or backpack with much-needed items. The children will box these up at home and bring them into school.
Please see the attached flyer for general information. We are asking for donations of toiletries (such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, and shampoo) and dry foods, including lentils, rice, dried milk powder, and spices.
We will be collecting donations from next week in the Learner entrance and our contributions will be handed over to the MWPS later on.
Every donation makes a difference, and your support for this important cause is deeply appreciated.

We played a range of games in our French lessons this week but a very popular one involved the number fans. This is a quick fire way to check how secure everyone is with their knowledge of numbers 1-10 and they did a brilliant job. Well done, everyone!
Next week will be our last session of the unit with a Christmas-based lesson in the final week of term.
Year 2 learners explored how music can tell a story by reading a graphic score that depicts the journey of a train. They learned to follow symbols representing different sounds, such as chugging wheels, whistles and fast-moving sections. Working together, they used their voices to perform each part in sequence, building confidence as they matched the shapes on the score to the changing moods of the train’s journey.
