Our learners have been exploring the phonemes /v/, /w/, /x/ and /y/. We have been exploring formation and creating words using these sounds as well as the sounds we have learnt previously.
The children have been enjoying writing words and sentences in class!
This week our learners are exploring the numbers 1-5. We continue to focus on subitising by finding out different ways of making 5. For example, tally, counting using objects or fingers, using a part/whole model, tens-frames and mark making numerals.
This week our learners have been exploring the artist Van Gogh.
We learned some interesting information about him before he became an artist and explored his paintings and the colours he used.
Our learners then got to create their own Van Gogh inspired masterpieces using a range of materials and paints.
This week our learners have started Drawing Club, combining imagination, writing, drawing, and a love of books to create some wonderful work in their writing books.
We began with Giraffes Can’t Dance, exploring important themes such as confidence, courage, the power of “yet,” and celebrating individuality.
We have begun our guided reading sessions this week! On Thursday, your child will bring home their reading folder, which includes the book they have read three times during the week with their teacher. Please support your child by reading with them at home at least three times per week and writing a short comment in their yellow reading record. This could include how well they did and if there were any words or sounds they needed help with. Folders must be returned every Wednesday so we can prepare and send home a new book the following day. Please note: if a book is lost or returned damaged, there will be a charge to replace it.
Thank you for your continued support, we’re excited to begin this reading journey together!

Nadeen School Annual Festive Fair
We are delighted to let you know that we are hosting this event again on Friday November 28th from 11am-4pm at Dilmunia, the home of our brand new, state-of-the-art campus.
On this day children, parents, staff and friends will come to our fair for a fun family day. We have games and prizes for the children, independent vendors offering various products for sale, food stalls, and a raffle. Last year we had over 2000 visitors to our Fair and it was an incredibly well-attended, well-enjoyed event; we are expecting even more visitors this year!
One of our largest fundraisers during the year is our Festive Fair Raffle. If you or your company could donate a raffle prize, such as a voucher, gift, gift certificate or hamper, it would be greatly appreciated by Nadeen School children, parents and staff. Should you be interested in sponsoring our event, please let us know by emailing v.trindade@nadeenschool.com and ks1-parentboard@nadeenschool.com
We will begin phasing the purchasing of food from the canteen into Primary from Wednesday, 14th October, starting with Year 6 learners. To support the smooth operation of this process, learner cards will be kept in school and given to students at lunchtime to make purchases.
Please note: learners can only purchase food if they have a card.
If you would like your child to buy lunch from the canteen, you will need to purchase a learner card. Instructions for how to purchase the card can be found spare APP.
Please ensure there is sufficient money loaded onto the card to allow your child to buy food. You can use the SPARE app to top up the card, view what your child has eaten, and purchase meals in advance.
We are aiming to introduce this system to Year 4 and Year 5 learners after the half-term break. We need this time to carefully organise the process so that we can maximise efficiency and ensure a smooth experience for all learners.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this introductory phase.
