Up and Coming Dates:
Saturday, 8th November Family Fun Run
Monday, 10th November Odd Socks Day
Tuesday, 11th November Remembrance Day
This week in English, our learners have been exploring the beautiful picture book Leaf by Sandra Dieckmann. They began by making thoughtful predictions about the story using visual clues and have been learning how authors use prepositions to describe movement, place, and time. Inspired by the stunning illustrations, the class also created their own prepositional poems, showcasing creativity, vivid imagery, and growing confidence as writers.
Spellings
We are looking at the possessive apostrophe for singular nouns rule for spelling this week. Please help the learners practise these at home.
Cat's toy
Dog's bone
Bird's cage
Girl's book
Boy's hat
Teacher's desk
Tree's leaves
Car's wheel
House's roof
Cup's handle
This week in Maths we began a new unit on addition and subtraction. Our learners have made good progress with addition this week and they have started exploring regrouping. We have also focused on mastering times tables. Some learners participated in a times table challenge, highlighting both their strengths and the areas that need improvement.
In Science this week, Year 4 delved deeper into their States of Matter topic. They explored how solids, liquids, and gases behave and change, using real-life examples to explain their ideas. This meant making their own ice lollies in the kitchen! Learners revisited key words like melting, freezing, and evaporation, showing great confidence and curiosity.
Enquiry Learning
This week, the learners began an exciting new topic — The Stone Age! They explored what life was like for early humans and learned how people used simple tools made from stone, bone, and wood to hunt and gather food. The class discussed how early humans found shelter, made clothing, and discovered fire. Everyone was fascinated to see how much life has changed from the Stone Age to modern times, and they are looking forward to learning even more in the coming weeks.

Well done to our Year 4 Wolves of the Week.
An excellent start to our new topic as we introduced a few school subjects and said which ones we liked then had lots of fun saying which ones we didn't like!
Learners really impressed me with how much vocabulary they remembered from last half term, namely items in a pencil case and classroom instructions.
