We had a great time outdoors this week enjoying the beautiful weather. We played different games like Hide and Seek and catch. The children got creative in the garden kitchen, making soups and cakes using mud, leaves and lots of natural treasures they found outside. It is wonderful to see their imaginations come to life while we enjoyed fresh air and plenty of fun!
We continued to explore different shapes, talking about what each shape looks like and how they are similar or different. The children described the shapes using their own words but also learnt some new words like faces and edges. We had fun creating our own patterns using the shapes, developing our problem solving skills and creativity.
We explored mark making using the LCD screens. The learners created different pictures and patterns experimenting with lines and shapes. The children talked about what they had drawn and shared their ideas with their friends. Introducing technology in this way helps to support early writing skills by developing fine motor control, creativity and confidence in making marks.
We had lots of fun outside using our bodies in different ways. We used our core muscles to stay balanced while in the spinning tops and we took turns spinning each other around, which helped strengthen our arm muscles too. These activities support our gross motor skills such as balance, coordination and strength but most importantly, we enjoyed being active together and having fun in the fresh air!
