This week, we used our research to plan our Egyptology diaries. We also completed our Writer’s Knowledge, adding in grammar skills and technical vocabulary to make our writing even more engaging. We are very excited to start writing our mysterious diaries next week!
Our focus will be on spelling adverbs, adding -ly words ending in 'le'
Our spelling words are:
basically
frantically
magically
dramatically
tragically
actually
accidentally
comically
This week in Maths, we have been exploring addition with regrouping and subtraction with exchange. Our learners have shown fantastic focus and resilience as they built their confidence using column methods. We’ve had a great week developing our mathematical skills through hands-on practice, partner challenges, and problem-solving activities.
The children would love to share their knowledge with you at home — ask them to show you how they regroup or exchange when solving tricky addition and subtraction problems!
This week we began our movement topic by looking at joints. We explored ball and socket and hinge joints. The learners explored these through practical activities and made their own examples of both joints. Next week we will begin to look at muscles and how our joints move.
Year 3 have been diving deeper into their Ancient Egypt topic! Learners wrote their names in hieroglyphics on their own version of papyrus paper and explored the significance of the pyramids and why they were built. Learners also began learning about the fascinating process of mummification, discovering how the Ancient Egyptians prepared their pharaohs for the afterlife.

Well done to our Year 3 Wolves of the Week.
We are delighted to share our Home Learning Choice Board for this half term. This is an optional activity board for your child to complete. There are nine practical and engaging activities to choose from, please select up to three.
You can share your child’s completed activities with your class teacher, they will provide brief feedback to your child in class time.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to speak to your class teacher or Year Leader.
Year 3 learners were really engaged in our spin the wheel activity which enabled them to state their preferences.
We then played a dice roll game which gave everyone the opportunity to say which animals they liked and which they didn't.
Next week, we are going to do some listening activities.
In Year 3, learners have been learning to identify different Gamelan instruments and match them to their descriptions. They listened carefully to the sounds each instrument makes and discussed how they are played, such as striking, hitting, or gently tapping. Using pictures and sound clips, the class explored instruments like the gong, kendang drum, and metallophones, noticing how each one has its own unique tone and role in an ensemble. Learners then worked in small groups to match the instrument names with written descriptions, developing both their listening skills and their understanding of traditional Indonesian music.
We are pleased to inform you that a dedicated email address has now been created for reporting learner absences. Please use attendance@nadeenschool.com to notify the school if your child will be absent on the day. All of the absence correspondence should as always go through the form tutor. This will help us ensure accurate attendance records and streamline communication. Thank you for your cooperation.
