This week in English, we explored the key language and structural features used in our example text. The children identified these features using two different colours, supported by a key to help them recognise each one clearly. We then focused on the writer’s knowledge demonstrated in the text and recorded our findings in the Writer’s Knowledge Organiser. These included the use of prefixes, relative clauses, adverbials and fronted adverbials and commas for extra information.
This week in Maths, we focused on adding fractions with a total greater than two, using bar models to support understanding. The learners added mixed numbers by partitioning them and applying the part-part whole model, which helped them clearly see how the whole is formed when combining mixed numbers.
This week in Science, we created a scientific investigation to explore whether the shape of an object affects water resistance. The children designed an equipment list and method, identified the dependent, independent and controlled variables and created a results table. We then carried out the experiment and recorded our findings.
This week in Enquiry Learning, we analysed information about the history of fairground rides before using it to create a timeline. We then explored the forces acting on fairground rides and applied this knowledge by designing and labelling a diagram of a fairground ride of our own.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us make this a happy and memorable experience for all our learners!
We will begin phasing the purchasing of food from the canteen into Primary from Wednesday, 14th October, starting with Year 6 learners. To support the smooth operation of this process, learner cards will be kept in school and given to students at lunchtime to make purchases.
Please note: learners can only purchase food if they have a card.
If you would like your child to buy lunch from the canteen, you will need to purchase a learner card. Instructions for how to purchase the card can be found spare APP.
Please ensure there is sufficient money loaded onto the card to allow your child to buy food. You can use the SPARE app to top up the card, view what your child has eaten, and purchase meals in advance.
We are aiming to introduce this system to Year 4 and Year 5 learners after the half-term break. We need this time to carefully organise the process so that we can maximise efficiency and ensure a smooth experience for all learners.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this introductory phase.
