This week in Maths, our learners have finished their Place Value topic, catching up with any gaps that they may have had.
They then started their new topic of Addition and Subtraction with an assessment to highlight what they already know and areas to focus on. Later in the week, the learners enjoyed an addition treasure hunt, working in teams to find and complete addition problems.
They finished the week by exploring how to decode and solve addition and subtraction based word problems.
This week in Science, Year 4 continued exploring their topic on States of Matter. We revisited the three main states — solids, liquids, and gases — and discussed how their properties can change. Learners reviewed key vocabulary such as melting, freezing, and evaporation, showing a strong understanding of everything they have learned so far. The children reflected on their learning.
Enquiry Learning
What an explosive week in Enquiry Learning! Our young scientists finally got to erupt their volcanoes, and the excitement was through the roof! After weeks of planning, designing, and building, learners watched their creations come to life in a colourful, bubbling eruption. There were gasps, cheers, and plenty of scientific discussion about what caused the reaction. It’s been a fantastic hands-on way to bring our volcano learning to life!

Well done to our Year 4 Wolves of the Week.
This week, we learnt how to say key items in a pencil case including: pen, pencil, a rubber, scissors. We played some quick fire games to help consolidate the new vocabulary.
We used 'il y a' to say what was in our pencil case.
After the half term break, we will continue with our topic on schools and we will look at school subjects and learn how to express preferences.
We will begin phasing the purchasing of food from the canteen into Primary from Wednesday, 14th October, starting with Year 6 learners. To support the smooth operation of this process, learner cards will be kept in school and given to students at lunchtime to make purchases.
Please note: learners can only purchase food if they have a card.
If you would like your child to buy lunch from the canteen, you will need to purchase a learner card. Instructions for how to purchase the card can be found spare APP.
Please ensure there is sufficient money loaded onto the card to allow your child to buy food. You can use the SPARE app to top up the card, view what your child has eaten, and purchase meals in advance.
We are aiming to introduce this system to Year 4 and Year 5 learners after the half-term break. We need this time to carefully organise the process so that we can maximise efficiency and ensure a smooth experience for all learners.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this introductory phase.
