This week in English, learners continued to explored formal letter writing. They began by analysing an example letter to identify the writer’s techniques and key features we have been focusing on this unit including: fronted adverbials, prefixes, modal verbs, and brackets for parenthesis. After their analysis, learners applied their learning by writing a note from a dad to his son, inspired by an image from our class book. They worked carefully to include the grammatical features identified in the model text, demonstrating growing confidence and creativity in their writing.
This week in Maths, our learners focused on interpreting and drawing line graphs to represent data visually. They practised reading information accurately and answering a range of questions, including multi-step problems based on two-way timetables. Throughout the lessons, learners developed their understanding of key mathematical vocabulary such as difference and how many more, building both their problem-solving and reasoning skills.
This week In Science learners investigated electrical conductors and insulators. Using simple learners tested a variety of everyday materials to see which ones allowed electricity to flow and light up the bulb. They observed carefully and recorded their findings, sorting each material into two categories - electrical conductors and insulators. This hands-on investigation helped deepen their understanding of how electricity works and why certain materials are used for specific purposes in electrical circuits.
This week in enquiry learning learners became historians as they explored Viking leaders! In the computer room, learners researched a famous Viking leader, gathering key facts and insights which they recorded using bullet points. In the following lesson, learners transformed their research into creative and informative posters showcasing their chosen leader’s achievements and personality in a visual and engaging way.

This week was all about practising our oral skills through games. Our main activity was rolling the dice and matching the number to the body part written on the IWB. Learners put this together with 'J'ai mal' to say what was hurting them.
Next week, we will be doing some listening practise and answering some questions on what we hear.

We will begin phasing the purchasing of food from the canteen into Primary from Wednesday, 14th October, starting with Year 6 learners. To support the smooth operation of this process, learner cards will be kept in school and given to students at lunchtime to make purchases.
Please note: learners can only purchase food if they have a card.
If you would like your child to buy lunch from the canteen, you will need to purchase a learner card. Instructions for how to purchase the card can be found spare APP.
Please ensure there is sufficient money loaded onto the card to allow your child to buy food. You can use the SPARE app to top up the card, view what your child has eaten, and purchase meals in advance.
We are aiming to introduce this system to Year 4 and Year 5 learners after the half-term break. We need this time to carefully organise the process so that we can maximise efficiency and ensure a smooth experience for all learners.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this introductory phase.
