This week in English, Year 4 learners have done a great job adapting to online learning and have continued to work hard from home. They started by practising writing some persuasive paragraphs to help them understand how persuasive language works.
The learners then began planning their final persuasive letter to the witch from The Lost Happy Endings. Over the week, they gathered ideas, vocabulary and persuasive phrases for each paragraph of their letter. This will help them organise their ideas and feel confident when writing.
Ask your child: Can you give me three sentences that start with a fronted adverbial?
Next Week: The learners will use their plans to write their final letters, trying to persuade the witch to return the happy endings to the stories.

This week in Maths, Year 4 learners continued developing their understanding of multiplication and division through a series of online lessons. They explored informal written methods for multiplication, learning how to break numbers into tens and ones to make calculations clearer and easier to solve. Learners also practised recognising related facts between multiplication and division, helping them see how these operations are connected and how known multiplication facts can support solving division problems. In addition, the class explored what happens when dividing numbers by 100, focusing on how digits shift place value when numbers become smaller. Throughout the lessons, learners discussed different strategies, shared their thinking, and applied these methods to solve a range of problems, helping to strengthen both their confidence and understanding of number relationships.
Ask your child:
Can you show me how to multiply a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number?
• How can breaking a number into tens and ones help you solve a multiplication problem?
• What is the relationship between multiplication and division? Can you give an example?
Next week:
• Multiply a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number using informal written methods.
• Multiply a 3-digit number by a 1-digit number by breaking numbers into hundreds, tens, and ones.
• Divide a 2-digit number by a 1-digit number using different strategies.
• Use related multiplication and division facts to help solve problems.
• Apply these skills to solve reasoning and problem-solving questions.
This week in Science, Year 4 learners began exploring the fascinating world of electrical circuits. They learned about the different components of a circuit, such as cells, bulbs, switches, and wires, and discussed the role each part plays in allowing electricity to flow. The class also explored the difference between open and closed circuits and how these affect whether a bulb lights up. Learners then had a go at drawing their own circuits, helping them visualise how all the parts connect together.
Ask your child: What would happen to the bulb if we had two cells in one closed circuit?
Next week: We will troubleshoot different circuits to understand if electricity can flow or not. We will recognise some common conductors and insulators, and associate metals with being good conductors.
This week we have been practising our debating skills and discussing which inventions were the most important and had the most impact on the world we live in today. Learners articulated there thoughts about inventions including the telephone, penicillin and the light bulb.
Ask your child: which invention was the most important and why?
Next week we will be organising inventions in chronological order and discuss why these specific inventions are important to us today.
We are grateful for the strong partnership we share with our parents. During periods of online learning, your support at home plays a role in helping your child continue to succeed.
Maintaining a simple daily routine and encouraging your child's efforts during lessons can make a big difference. Where possible, setting up a consistent learning space for your child to join each lesson can also help them stay engaged and ready to learn. Being prepared with essential resources; paper, pencil/pens and ensuring your child has a charged device sets them with readiness for every lesson. Scheduling the release of planning the night before which is a part of our flexible approach and gives you time to prepare any additional resources that might be needed the next day.
During online lessons, we aim to empower children to become confident and independent learners. While they are on their calls, we encourage students to take responsibility for their learning and engage actively in the lesson. Please remind your child that their teachers are there to support them just as they would in the classroom. They should feel confident raising their hand, unmuting their microphone, or using the chat to ask for help after the input session if they need clarification or support.
Brain breaks are equally important, a short physical activity between online lessons can help children refresh and refocus. Ensure that children step away from screens during their 30 minute morning break and their 30 minute lunch breaks to refresh and stretch their legs.
Most importantly, celebrate your child’s effort and progress. Your encouragement helps build their confidence and motivation to learn. Together, we will continue to support your children and ensure they have the tools to succeed during this period of online learning.
At Nadeen, we value strong partnerships with our families and your feedback plays an important role in our continuous improvement journey.
Our Parent Happiness & Feedback Survey has been designed to help us better understand your child’s experience across wellbeing, learning, communication and community.

Thank you for supporting this wonderful initiative.
We are pleased to share the launch of The Arabic Stories Digital Library, an innovative initiative from our Arabic Department designed to strengthen our culture of reading and academic excellence.
The platform provides a carefully curated collection of Arabic stories tailored to learners’ varying interests and proficiency levels. Learners are encouraged to read at least one story per week and complete a structured reflection task to deepen comprehension, enhance written expression, and develop critical thinking skills.
The library will continue to expand through regular updates, ensuring fresh and engaging content. This initiative supports independent learning, advances language development, and reinforces cultural identity — all aligned with our strategic vision and High Performance Learning framework.
Further details will be shared by Ms. Zenab after the half-term break.
We are pleased to inform you that a dedicated email address has now been created for reporting learner absences. Please use attendance@nadeenschool.com to notify the school if your child will be absent on the day. All of the absence correspondence should as always go through the form tutor. This will help us ensure accurate attendance records and streamline communication. Thank you for your cooperation.
