This week we have been practising counting in steps of 1,2,5 and 10's on the number line. We have even formed human number lines and sorted ourselves from smallest to largest. Next week we will start our new topic of Addition and Subtraction.
Home learning
All learners should be able to quickly recall Number Bonds to 10. A quick game is
'Who's best friends with?'
Show or say a number of fingers and your child's response should be the corresponding number of fingers that can be added to make 10.
For example, show 3 fingers and your child should respond with 7 fingers. Or say '3' and your child should quickly respond '7' - as 3 +7 = 10,
This week in Science, we have been consolidating our learning about how animals survive. We explored what animals need in order to live and looked more closely at what would happen if they did not have the four things needed to survive. We also recapped the key ideas we have been learning throughout this topic. Next week, we will begin our new focus on humans, exploring diet and exercise and how these help to keep our bodies healthy.
This week in Enquiry Learning, Year 2 have been exploring the history of toys. We’ve learned how to order events chronologically and understand how toys have changed over time. The children have loved comparing toys from the past and present, looking at materials, designs, and how they were used.
Home Learning
Please talk to your child about your favourite childhood toy, or perhaps they can do this with a grandparent or older relative.
Children will be given a piece of paper to record their findings on, please ensure this is returned to school.

October: Cancer Awareness Month 🎗️
During the entire month of October, our school is dedicated to Cancer Awareness. This is a time to show support, raise awareness, and stand in solidarity with those affected by cancer.
We warmly invite all parents and learners to take part in this meaningful initiative by:
Writing a message of hope, strength, or remembrance
Drawing a picture that reflects cancer awareness – whether it's a ribbon, a heart, or a tribute to someone special
Your contributions will be displayed around the school as a symbol of our community’s compassion and support.
Let’s come together to honor the fighters, celebrate the survivors, and remember the loved ones we’ve lost.
Together, we are stronger.
Celebrating Our Community Together We are so thankful to the wonderful group of parents already helping us plan for our Diwali celebration on October 9th. From October 5th–9th, parents who observe Diwali are warmly invited to visit their child’s class to share a story, lead a craft, or introduce another cultural activity. If you would like to take part, please reach out directly to your child’s class teacher. We also warmly welcome parents who would like to share traditions from any cultural or national celebration that is special to your family. Part of what makes Nadeen School so unique is our wonderfully international community—over 70 nationalities, each with its own traditions, stories, and celebrations. Together, we create joyful experiences that help our children learn, connect, and appreciate the richness of our diverse world.
